Hobbs & Shaw Trailer Reaction: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

Ups...

6. It's Basically A Superhero Movie (And That's Awesome)

For some reason, director David Leitch claimed that this movie would be a decidedly more grounded buddy cop film than the mainline Fast & Furious tentpoles, though this is hilariously contradicted by the entirety of the three-minute trailer.

From Idris Elba's literal super-powered baddie Brixton to the abundance of death-defying action no human being could realistically execute or survive, this is as fundamentally ridiculous as anything we've seen in the previous eight films.

And in case you hadn't guessed, that's a damn good thing.

Some might mourn the Lethal Weapon-type buddy movie that could've been, but Hobbs & Shaw seems to be doubling down on both the destruction porn and the superhero tropes to such an extent that it's tough not to admire the commitment.

Clearly, nobody will be complaining that this film takes itself too seriously.
