20 Horror Franchises That NEED To Come Back

6. The Hills Have Eyes

Wes Craven's classic The Hills Have Eyes spawned a poorly received 1985 sequel, which Craven himself disowned, and after this the series remained dormant for over 20 years until 2006's remake.

Though many expected it to be just another glossy rehash, the film has a relatively sturdy rep among fans of the original, largely thanks to Alexandre Aja's intense, visceral filmmaking.

A sans-Aja sequel was released the very next year, yet was critically panned and considerably less successful at the box office, and so that's the last we've seen or heard from the franchise.

Now sure, not all horror series are made for the long haul, but there's a uniquely scuzzy quality to the Hills Have Eyes movies that would still help them stand out today amid a sea of polished genre fare.

Mutant cannibals are always going to be scary, so there's every incentive to give The Hills Have Eyes another crack.
