Better Watch Out is one of the greatest Christmas-themed horror movies of all time - a ludicrously entertaining romp in which a babysitter (Olivia DeJonge) fights to protect a 12-year-old boy (Levi Miller) from a murderous home invasion.
It's no spoiler to say that Chris Peckover's film is something of a twisted love letter to Home Alone, but Better Watch Out best thrives on its surging element of surprise, considering the deranged particulars of this cat-and-mouse scenario.
Olivia DeJonge and Levi Miller are terrific in the lead roles that ask far more of them than the premise might initially suggest, and if the logline seems a little too familiar for its own good, know that the movie takes some brilliantly calculated left turns.
But don't feel like you need to wait until Christmas to check it out - this movie is an absolute riot to behold any time of the year.
