House Of Gucci Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

1. The Well-Placed Needle Drops

While excessive needle-drops can often be to a film's detriment, in an intentionally garish, tacky piece of work like House of Gucci, bombarding audiences with classic pop tracks from the era is absolutely fair game.

And that Scott certainly does, reeling off numerous hit Blondie tunes, as well as bangers from the likes of Donna Summer, George Michael, David Bowie, Eurythmics, and in an especially amusing choice, Luciano Pavarotti.

There's certainly a lot of music thrown around, but then this is a whole lotta movie, and the selections mostly go hand-in-hand with the decadent style. No complaints here.

It doesn't so much feel like Scott is using these beloved songs as crutches to curry our favour than to simply evoke the mood of the era, which they definitely do.
