How Avengers: Endgame Completely Changes The MCU

6. Gamora Is Back... Kinda

While the Gamora of Infinity War is definitely dead (although Endgame surprisingly didn't elaborate on the mysterious Soul Stone vision Thanos had immediately after the snap), the character will live on thanks to a little bit of time travel shenanigans.

A version of the villain-turned-hero travels with Thanos to the future at the end of the latest film, where she does eventually help Nebula fight back against her father and encounter Peter Quill, who she obviously has no connection to whatsoever.

The question remains then, what comes next for her? She's not seen on the Guardians ship with Thor at the end of the film, suggesting she isn't simply going to adopt her counterpart's former role so the filmmakers can pretend like nothing has changed. Quill is seen searching for her on his ship just before the credits however, potentially suggesting that the search for her will be the driving force of Guardians 3.

Either way, it's going to be a radically different version of the character, without the shared experiences that made her the heart and soul of the Guardians team, and not the same person Peter Quill fell in love with.
