How Avengers: Endgame Completely Changes The MCU
5. Valkyrie Is The Leader Of New Asgard
One of the major questions following Infinity War's devastating opening was just what the hell happened to Asgard. The ship that as served their new home had been destroyed, and key players like Valkyrie, Korg and Meek were nowhere to be seen. Endgame, finally, revealed that Thanos simply killed half of the remaining Asgardians and spared the rest, with the remaining few going on to forge New Asgard on Earth.
Thor is technically still the king there, but his rule pretty much consists entirely of drinking beers on the couch with Korg and playing Fortnite against abusive 15 year olds. Valkyrie is left to do most of the heavy lifting, something which Thor acknowledges in Endgame's climax, officially handing over ruler status to her.
While it's generally just nice to know that Asgard has finally found some semblance of peace after losing their leaders, their planet, and then being brutalised by Thanos, it has some wider ramifications about where the MCU could go from here. The Siege storyline from the comics focuses on Asgard - similarly located on Earth - being attacked by Loki. Of course, the trickster is out the picture, but the general idea could still form the basis of a future storyline.
And, who knows, maybe somewhere down the line Valkyrie could become the female Thor fans have been waiting for.
