How Disney Should Make Indiana Jones 5
6. Include Young Indy Flashbacks
Expecting an actor in his late-70s to carry an entire action movie is a big ask, but this problem could be solved by including a younger Indy in the story.
Remember that River Phoenix-fronted flashback in The Last Crusade? Sequences like this which impact on the overarching narrative could be a useful device for Indy 5.
Nobody wants to see an Indiana Jones movie without Harrison Ford, but what if the upcoming sequel switched between two different time periods, with a less-seasoned star playing the archaeologist in the flashbacks?
The movie's MacGuffin could be the tie which binds the two stories together and the successful introduction of a new young Indy could be the key to expanding the franchise going forward, something which Disney is intent on doing.
Let's face it, measuring up Mutt Williams for the whip and fedora in Crystal Skull didn't go down overly well, so maybe Indiana Jones should pass on the torch to his younger self in the next film (not literally, of course).
