7. The Perfect Female Superhero

Perhaps largest complaint that gets thrown at female superheroes is that they lean too heavily on the fact that they are women.

Thankfully, Spider-Gwen is a refreshing take on the superheroine that doesn't need to mention that she is a woman at all, instead proving her ability and strength through her actions. While she appears as Gwen (or Gwanda) earlier, her first appearance as Spider-Gwen is her saving Peter and Miles. She is easily the most capable of the three main Spider-People without ever having to prove that a woman can be a superhero.

This doesn't mean that her character depth is sacrificed. Gwen is, of course, one of the three main Spider-People and although she gets the least screentime of the three to make space for the teacher and pupil relationship between Peter and Miles, she is able to steal most of the scenes she is in.

Hailee Steinfeld's performance is as cute and charming as it is confident and badass. When she inevitably returns to the screen, perhaps as the star of her own film, she can only improve on what has been one of the most refreshing superheroes in recent memory. However, considering she acts as a love interest for Miles, there is still one more bonus that her character accomplishes...
