How Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Became The Best Superhero Film Since The Dark Knight
3. It's Hilarious
While much of the praise for this film focuses on its more grounded aspects, it is still important to note that the film is absolutely hilarious. After all it features a cartoon pig playing Spider-Man.
The two best sources of comedy are of course Spider-Ham and Spider-Noir. The former is a Looney Tunes parody that feels so uniquely odd even in a world as crazy as Miles'. His backstory speech is fantastic and the sight of him floating in the air when he smells a delicious pie is incredibly funny.
The latter is Nicholas Cage providing perhaps the best Nicholas Cage parody of all time. The laughably dark nature of his character is so at odds with the characters around him and he is played with such gleeful enthusiasm by Cage himself.
Outside of those two, Miles awkward attempts to balance being a student at a new school and the new superhero on the block are fantastically funny and charming. Perhaps the standout moment of his is the shoulder touch scene with Gwen, and the call back to it in the final fight is incredible.
Pretty much every attempt at comedy lands perfectly in the film creating a great contrast to the more serious moments of the film and makes the film all the more entertaining.
