How The MCU's X-Men COULD Look
1. Storm
Here we have arguably Werneck's most glorious piece.
At this point, it seems lazy to critique the boring black leather of the Fox X-Men films, but with Storm - and with Werneck's interpretation, in particular - the use of such an unoriginal costume is exceptionally egregious. Storm has worn black outfits and white outfits, but none of them have been leather jumpsuits.
Though it is inspired by Jim Lee's classic costume, it is framed as a piece of regal African attire. Storm is descended from African royalty, and this suit is reflective of that. It is absolutely beautiful in the way that it seamlessly incorporates traditional African tribal patterns into its design, and is reminiscent of the white robe worn by T'Challa in Black Panther. It is appropriately ornate for someone who is the latest in a long line of African priestesses.
Aside from the African influences, the way it folds in Storm's classic iconography deserves to be commended. Her tiara is understated but prominent in equal measure. The way the straps of the robe form an X over her chest is ingenious. Truly a masterful piece of costume design and we can only hope that Marvel takes some cues from Lucas Werneck.
