How Warner Bros. Should Have Made Justice League

1. Released In 2020

In Justice League's first post-credits sting, Superman challenges The Flash to a race and the pair rocket towards the finish line at inhuman speed. This was the same pace Warner and DC moved at to make the film when The Avengers hit at the box office.

The biggest problem with the DCEU is how rushed the whole thing feels. The studios wanted a Marvel Cinematic Universe killer yesterday, but were unwilling to put in the necessary groundwork to achieve one.

Had DC and Warner bided their time and pencilled Justice League in for 2020, that would have given them ample time to give Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg solo films ahead of the main event. Justice League should have taken the Cyborg movie's 2020 release slot.

If each of the main heroes had been fully developed in their own movies before the team-up, a two-hour runtime would have been plenty, but instead, Justice League collapsed beneath the weight of the exposition and character building it was tasked with.

Warner should have followed Marvel Studios' lead on this one. The MCU is the gold standard for cinematic universe construction, and its DC counterpart should looked to its Phase One template for inspiration, specifically the amount of solo films its rival churned out before attempting an ensemble team-up.
