Hugh Grant: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. George Wade - Two Weeks Notice

Absolutely, the middling Hugh Grant performance at the core of this particularly dire rom-com winds up being one of the actor's most forgettable turns. As George Wade, Grant totally rests on his laurels, phoning in a performance that he couldn't done in his sleep. Indeed, the actor appear to have discovered the autopilot setting here - one that he would occasionally turn to across the span of his career, presumably when he realised the material was naff. Grant stars opposite Sandra Bullock here as her "eccentric, self-centered boss," in a movie with a plot so winding and bizarre-executed that it's hard to buy into it - even for a romantic comedy that clearly was supposed to be something akin to fantasy. The biggest issue, however, stems from the lack of chemistry between Grant and Bullock, who appear to have met just hours before shooting began. There is absolutely no gravity between them.
