Hugh Jackman Advises His Wolverine Successor To Train For 6 Months

Yeah, no sh*t, Wolfie...

In an interview with Digital Spy to help publicise the release of the distinctly pantomime-like Pan, Hugh Jackman was quizzed on his favourite Wolverine scene, and asked whether he had any advice for his potential successor in the role: "Start training six months out. I got the part literally as they were filming. Bryan Singer said to me, 'How long do you need to get into shape?' 'Three weeks?'... We had to hide a lot of stuff. If you look at the film carefully there's quite a transformation in my body, during the film." Jackman infamously came to the role late, having replaced Dougray Scott who ducked out for his "big break" in Mission Impossible II, and was forced to take on a last minute training regime to get him sculpted for the role. That's why he looks like a walking vascular muscle for all of his other Wolverine performances, and is distinctly more soft for the first. If his replacement is someone like Tom Hardy or Joe Mangianello (both rumoured at various points in the past, and both of the right sort of ilk), they shouldn't have trouble with physique, given that they've both got good foundations and Hardy transforms his size like Christian Bale does. Asked what his favourite Wolverine scene ever is, Jackman unsurprisingly picked out the First Class cameo with a smile.
"To me... in about fifteen seconds, that just sums up the character."
