Hunter Killer Review: 3 Ups & 5 Downs

1. The Entertainingly Silly Third Act

Hunter Killer
Summit Entertainment

Though the vast majority of the movie is overly stern and serious, its barmy third act does at least deliver some of the heightened insanity you were probably hoping for.

From absurd, video game-esque shootouts to ridiculous CGI submarine manoeuvers and an hilarious final showdown, only in that final half-hour does the movie finally accept its wanton trashiness.

While it's a tough sell asking audiences to sit through an hour-plus of mediocrity to get to the fun stuff, at least the climax does deliver a literal boatload of silliness sure to leave you smiling on your way out of the cinema.
