Independence Day 2: 10 Reasons Why Resurgence Might Actually Be Good

8. The Nostalgia Factor

Everything old is new again - and movie buffs who grew up in the 80s and 90s are now experiencing this, as the popular properties of their youth are once again en vogue. That bodes well for the success of Independence Day: Resurgence. It is coming out at exactly the right time to cash in on the 90s nostalgia kick, as the kids of that decade, who grew up with ID4, are now old enough to buy a ticket to the sequel (at today's inflated prices no less), bring the family, and be gauged at the snack bar. It doesn't have any impact on the quality of the film in the end, but at the box office, Resurgence should have a very good chance of being profitable. And that's going to be a major factor in the future of the series, as Resurgence was originally pitched along with a second film - that will no doubt get a green light if early returns from the movie are positive.
