However, just because Crystal Skull reflected the gap between the movies, that doesnt mean to say that the fifth installment will do just the same. After all, the franchise is no stranger to jumping around Indys life don't forget that The Temple Of Doom is a prequel to Raiders Of The Last Ark. So, to avoid dealing with Indys married life and the character of Mutt, Indy 5 could be set before the fourth movie. Of course, it couldnt be placed a long time before, due Fords obvious age (so dont expect an adventure set in the heart of World War Two), but it could predate Crystal Skull by a couple of years. This could actually be a good thing. We all love Indy vs Nazis, but there is a lot more mileage to be had from the character going up against the Russians in the Cold War, as long as it is handled better this time. This take on Indy 5 would probably largely act as an apology to fans after the fourth film, just as Spielberg said The Last Crusade was made to say sorry for the overly-dark Temple Of Doom. Fans like to pretend Crystal Skull never happened, and, if this occurs, it is possible that it really will be wiped from continuity.
