7. It Will Be A Sequel To Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
As much as some fans try to scrub it from their brains, the last time we saw Indy he had finally settled down with a wife and a son. Given that, the most likely option for a fifth movie in the franchise or at least the one that requires the least brain work is for it to continue where the last one left off. Indy 5 will arrive 11 years after Crystal Skull, so it could do a similar time jump to that film and have the character match Fords advance in years. The plot could see the now elderly, retired professor called back into action one more time. Perhaps with even more references to how old he is than in Crystal Skull. Yay? Though a lot of fans might be groaning right about now, one positive to consider here is that, even if this idea goes ahead, Shia LaBeouf wont be back as Indys insufferable son, Mutt. He rather burnt his bridges with the series after bad-mouthing the fourth movie, to the extent that Harrison Ford himself called him a f*cking idiot". As such, if the movie does go down this route, Mutt will probably be written out as being away. Or possibly as having died in the interim. Cue cheers.
