Indy then wakes up in 1969, bandaged from his injuries and greeted by Helena, who he blames for bringing him back to the present, insisting that there's nothing for him there.

But at that moment, Marion enters his apartment with Sallah, Sallah's grandkids, and Teddy, while carrying a bag of groceries much to Indy's confusion.

Everybody else in the apartment then leaves, giving Indy and Marion space to have a final heart-to-heart, where Marion confirms she's heard that Indy is "back" - a statement that of course has several meanings in this context.

Marion then asks Indy about his injuries before he asks her where she hurts, and she says "everywhere." The pair then re-enact the famous "Where doesn't it hurt?" scene from the boat in Raiders of Lost Ark, with Marion saying her elbow doesn't hurt, before Indy gives it a kiss.

The pair embrace, confirming their reconciliation and bringing Indy's surprisingly bleak final journey to a much-needed, crowd-pleasing end.
