Infinite Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

3. Chiwetel Ejiofor's Amusingly Absurd Performance

Infinite Chiwetel Ejiofor
Paramount

Though almost every single cast member here gets very little to do, Chiwetel Ejiofor is the easy exception. While a large portion of his dialogue is indeed expository, he makes the absolute best of it by thoroughly hamming it up for the cheap seats.

As the film's eyeliner-wearing antagonist Bathurst, Ejiofor is the only actor who really seems like they're having much fun, and perhaps the only one acutely aware of exactly the caliber project they signed up for.

From being voluntarily waterboarded with gasoline in an attempt to "see God's face," to ripping through the programmatic dialogue with a ferocious intensity, he commits wholeheartedly to the part and accounts for a large portion of Infinite's entertainment value.

Ejiofor could've easily just snoozed his way through it for a fast-and-easy payday like Wahlberg, but to his credit he actually tried to do something fun and interesting with it.
