The presence of 2001 and Stanley Kubrick in Nolan's mind when he made this film is obvious - to be explored very soon - and the single most obvious Easter Egg recalling that relationship is in the design of the video message unit on Endurance. Earth and the ship communicate through this Skype-like system, but it's not just the technology, but the way the unit is designed that is clearly a nod to Kubrick's own technology.
