5. A Nightmare On Elm Street

It isn't just a fan-pleasing Stephen King adaptation. It's a love letter to horror and '80s pop culture, and it pays tribute to both by having A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 playing at the local cinema, and that might not be the only nod to the iconic series.

The movie's grisliest scene comes when Bev Marsh is hit by a fountain of blood that comes spewing from her sink. This is reminiscent of a similarly bloody sequence from Freddy Krueger's debut.

Remember that scene in the original Nightmare on Elm Street where Johnny Depp is swallowed by his bed? A guiser of blood rockets towards the ceiling in similar fashion.

Whether the parallel is intentional or not, fans online appear to have jumped on it.
