It Chapter 2: 15 Insane Hidden Details You Definitely Missed

8. The "It" Poster

Here's Pennywise DO NOT USE
Warner Bros.

Richie's flashback that establishes the first hints that he's a closeted homosexual and has held onto fears of being persecuted for his "dirty little secret" for the best part of 30 years is obviously a huge revelation when he goes to the cinema to find his artefact. It's so huge, in fact, that you can ignore some of the details involved in that scene.

For one, the popcorn machine is still part-full of popcorn weirdly, as if to capture a moment frozen in time amongst the decay. Somewhat less cleverly, the film's second reference to Meg Ryan also comes in that scene thanks to a You'Ve Got Mail poster that appears in the background and because Pennywise is absolutely everywhere, the poster has been ripped in such a way that IT has been spelled out in the same design as the film's logo.

There' no higher thinking behind it, but it's just a nice reminder that he's always watching. Or Meg Ryan is or something.
