It Review: 9 Ups & 1 Down

1. It Thoroughly Respects The Source Material

And above all else, the reason that It works so well is that it shows a sure respect for Stephen King's source material, but also doesn't trip over itself to be totally reverent to the film's detriment.

Overall it's certainly more faithful to the core spirit of the book than the 1990 movie and is loaded with little beats that readers will love to see included, while omitting more goofy and objectionable elements, such as the aforementioned orgy scene.

Though King himself giving the movie a ringing endorsement doesn't exactly mean much as he has a financial interest in the movie doing well, one suspects that in this case he really, truly meant it.
