Italy Versus Japan: Battle Of The Sleaze Epics

7. Beautiful Girl Hunter (1979)

Njnjn REPRESENTING JAPAN Prison escapee breaks into a young couple's house and rapes the wife in front of the husband. A baby boy is the result of this rape. Flash forward until he is 16. The boy has an obsession with Hitler and the Nazis and the atrocities they inflicted on people during World War Two. He becomes violent and unstable and wants to kick the ass of his abusive foster father and find his real dad. He uses newspaper ads to contact his real dad and eventually inveigles him out using torture sessions on young girls. A very strong pinku eiga, Beautiful Girl Hunter is a typical Japanese rape and torture movie. It is gruelling to watch, but unlike Grotesque, it actually has a plot and tells a story - albeit, a very sleazy one. For a film of its ilk, it is very professional and has high production values which make it even harder to watch as it injects a dose of realism into the proceedings. Director Norifumi Suzuki worked on several pinku eiga in the 1970s and he brings his visual flair and polish to Beautiful Girl Hunter. Bottom line is: If you enjoy Japanese cinema, exploitation cinema, extreme and sleazy films, Beautiful Girl Hunter will hit your sweet spot in a very satisfying manner. Anyone else will be appalled and disgusted by the film - mission accomplished for the movie!

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
