James Bond: 10 Awesome Gadgets That Would Never Work In Real Life

3. Ejector Seat

The Ejector seat is a very famous gadget in Bond technology, one that's certainly remembered fondly. In Goldfinger, Bond is held at gunpoint as he drives, but due to the handy ejector seat function Bond can plan an impromptu escape! I think its real life applications are mainly that of comedic value as opposed to anything else, I mean after all its a pretty niche function that's not exactly relevant in many situations. It stands out as one of the more unique car gadgets, compared to that of the water cannon, oil slick, or Gatling guns. However, a lot would have to go right for an Ejector Seat to actually do what it says on the tin. Interestingly, TV show Mythbusters already raised this question and basically decided that the device was only semi-feasible. This is because while you can eject someone from your car via rockets (presumably the only reasonable source of thrust you could use) the side effects are unavoidable and pretty fatal. Rockets do have the thrust to propel someone and their car seat but the flame and heat from the ignition would fire back at the car, most likely incinerating the driver. I think it'd get dull after a while anyway.
