James Bond: 10 Bond Girls Who Became Massive Stars

9. Famke Janssen

In her 1995 role as the wonderfully-monikered Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye, Famke Janssen shot to the world stage in a role that would become synonymous with Pierce Brosnan's debut. Xenia was the stuff of a teenage boy's slightly more unusual fantasies - a sadistic assassin who gunned down innocent lab technicians, was as voraciously sexual as Bond himself, and even suffocated a man between her thighs. Bond was soon to dispatch her in a strangely brutal fashion, but afterwards Janssen's career went from strength to strength, building upon her Bond turn to establish a true career, particularly in genre media. She found fame and further international recognition - as well as a whole generation of new fans - in the X-Men series of films, playing fan favourite Dr. Jean Grey, a character whose prominence rose throughout the series, culminating in a central role in the maligned X Men: The Last Stand. Since then, the Dutch-born Janssen has been notable for her roles as Liam Neeson's spirited ex-wife in the Taken film trilogy, and the lead character and mysterious matriarch in Netflix's horror series Hemlock Grove.
