James Bond: 10 Greatest Animal Moments In 007 Films

7. The Bedtime Tarantula in the Original Bond Film, Dr. No

Bedtime Dead Time Dr. No Tarantula Both perfect in suspense and classic in the fact that it just might be the very first time a villain attempts to kill James bond with some elaborate scheme instead of just shooting him, 1962's Bond Villain, the infamous Dr. No, tries to end 007 with a killer tarantula. This hairy little bedtime dead time delight wakes Connery up by crawling up his leg underneath the covers. It continues to move slowly up his arm and over his shoulder. Bond stays perfectly still although he is obviously freaked out. The tarantula, missing its chance, moves off of Bond onto his pillow. Last mistake it ever made. In a flash Connery throws the pillow on the floor and smashes the spider repeatedly for effect. Probably not a person alive, who would have acted any different. The next time Dr. No sends a guy with a gun to do the job. He fairs no better than the tarantula.
