7. Sheriff J.W. Pepper - Live And Let Die (1973)/ The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)
"You picked the wrong parish to haul ass through boy. Nobody cuts and runs of Sheriff J.W Pepper." so sets the tone for the demise of the James Bond franchise and descent into mid 80's campy free-for-all. Oh no, one appearance of the sweating Sheriff wasn't enough, Broccoli and co. warranted the return of Clifton James for 'The Man With the Golden Gun'. A bungling sheriff, Pepper is the personification of 'The Simpsons' Chief Wiggum. His only redeeming feature is that he is part of that infamous car jump scene, apart from that he should be banged up with the other Bond characters that are just there to provide comic relief. Apart from Bond, Clifton James went on to play a similar role in Superman II and a regular spot on 'Lois and Clark.' A racist and a sexist, it is unlikely the character of J.W. Pepper will be making a return to the Sam Mendes canon of Bond; it is best to let the character die with Clifton James, but he is still going strong.
