James Bond Theme Tunes: From Best To Worst

4. The Living Daylights

Artist: A-HaFilm: The Living Daylights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9p0FJnk2vM I don€™t like A-Ha, but I love this song. From the intro (thankfully, John Barry won out after coming to blows with Morten Harket et al and produced this more Bondian recording). This is something very different to the Bond tunes we€™re used to, but works in its own right. And like the best Bond tunes, the instrumentals are wonderfully incorporated into elements of the actual film score.

3. Live and Let Die

Artist: Paul McCartney & WingsFilm: Live and Let Die http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swVoXHVW-jI Like A-Ha and Duran Duran, I really don€™t like Paul McCartney€™s work at all. Apart from this, because it€™s just amazing. It worked so well. It€™s interesting that every Bond from Moore onwards has been introduced musically in a bold, daring manner. This is the best of the lot, in my opinion. The lyrics are a bit bizarre and the bits where McCartney actually sings are a bit awkward, but it€™s not enough to criticise a bloody brilliant song.
