James Bond Theme Tunes: From Best To Worst

16. Moonraker

Artist: Shirley BasseyFilm: Moonraker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt3oQN0cAv0 The first appearance from the lovely Welsh lass with a great set of lungs, this is flimsy in comparison to her previous entries. The lyrics aren€™t up to much, it€™s just not memorable- hell, it€™s the kind of thing to catch people out in a pub quiz (€œWhat? I swear she only did two!€). It€™s not Bassey at her best, so for poor lyrics and a great singer not on top form, it€™s a bit of crummy footnote to her later entries.

15. The Man With The Golden Gun

Artist: LuluFilm: The Man With The Golden Gun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxTCwrIYyZQ It does the job- it references the title and the villain (in one go!), and feels dangerous and exciting€ but not enough. I used to absolutely adore this theme tune, but listening to it recently, it€™s kind of a let-down. Lulu€™s voice isn€™t powerful enough in comparison to Jones, Adele, Turner or Bassey, and the song is kind of light on the ground. It€™s not rich, rather it feels€canny? (I think that€™s the word I€™m looking for)
