Jamie Dornan: 10 Previous Roles You May Have Missed

1. New Worlds

In Channel 4€™s four-part drama New Worlds (Peter Flannery€™s sequel of a sort to The Devil€™s Whore), Dornan plays swashbuckling idealist and outlaw Abe Goffe. Set between two separate territories of the Crown, 1680s-era America and England, Dornan leads the more English section of the show as the fictional son of real-life revolutionary William Goffe. Dornan€™s Abe takes Freya Mavor€™s Beth hostage, but despite the dominant male vs subversive female-parallels that might have with Fifty Shades Of Grey, the New Worlds actually offers a chance for Dornan to show off his more sensitive side. The show wasn€™t well-received, but Dornan at least got another chance to make his mark as a lead, and to offer a hint at more passionate, thoughtful aspects of his acting persona, unexplored in most of the work he€™d appeared in up to that point.
