10. Marie Antoinette
Having worked as a model for the likes of Calvin Klein and Armani for the first few years of his adult life, Dornan was - aged just 23 - cast as royal Swedish hunk Count Axel von Fersen in Sofa Coppolas lavish period piece Marie Antoinette. As Fersen, Dornan is required to do little more than look good in his 18th century duds, as Kirsten Dunsts title character ogles and subsequently begins an illicit affair with the Count based largely on the desirability of his abs. Still, this was a breakthrough role - Coppola based Fersens distinct look on Adam Ant, and Dornan luckily gets the task of standing out and looking pretty in a film thats all about appearance. Hollywood wouldnt come calling again until almost a decade later, with Fifty Shades, but Antoinette had put Dornan on the map all the same.
