Jason Bourne: 10 Reasons It's A Huge Disappointment
7. It's Basically A Greatest Hits Of The Franchise
As many suspected, Jason Bourne is basically just a compendium of the scenarios and things everyone loves about the franchise without much variation, and at this point in the series that lack of innovation has left many fans lukewarm.
You know what the plot's going to be: Bourne for some reason resurfaces, faces personal turmoil, is hunted down by a government outfit, there's a shady secret project he needs to find out about, there's a government agent who may or may not begin to help Bourne, there's an asset out to kill him, and at the end Bourne disappears into the night while Moby plays out.
That's been the formula for a while and it's unbroken here, because no matter how enjoyable the action is or how entertaining several of the performances are, fans were no doubt hoping that the near-decade between movies and major world changes since then (namely the abundance of technology in our lives as well as Snowden and Wikileaks) would turn the formula on its head rather than merely settle for rehashing what came before.
