Jaws Vs. Deep Blue Sea: A Shark Showdown

6. The Dialogue

jaws jaws jaws Jaws has always stood out for me due to its brilliant and snappy dialogue. Brody and his family are very genuine, and the jokes and concerns they share rub off from this. Keeping to this, Brody€™s humorous exchanges with the Mayor, especially when he and Hooper try to persuade him to close the beaches one final time, as well as many more of Amity€™s citizens is perfectly placed. Quint€™s slurred speech is also brilliant; whether he is making fun of Hooper or barking orders he is comes across as funny in that brash, in your face way. His ditties and songs are always fun to hear, culminating in the three shark hunters sharing a sing-song that will always bring a smile to your face. Nothing seems forced, scripted or unauthentic... Which is my main gripe with Deep Blue Sea. It has its moments, such as the amusing exchanges between Chef Preacher and the Bird or the desperate prayers of the survivors as they make a last ditch survival attempt, but overall the script really fails impress an is frequently wooden or one dimensional. The science jargon spouted earlier on is incomprehensible and confusing, the arguments are laughably bad at times, and not much else is even worth mentioning. So, Jaws, it's you. Total: Jaws (4) Deep Blue Sea (2)
