Jennifer Aniston & Dennis Quaid To Join Jackie Brown 'Prequel'
Adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel The Switch begins filming in December.
Jennifer Aniston and Dennis Quaid are in talks to join Switch, the adaptation of the Elmore Leonard novel 'The Switch' that features characters Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara from Jackie Brown. Ordell was played by Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro played Louis in Quentin Tarantino's 1997 movie adaptation of Leonard's novel, but Switch is a story Leonard wrote with the characters that took place before the events of Jackie Brown (or Rum Punch as Leonard titled it). This film will have no connection to Tarantino's movie. Mos Def (Ordell) and John Hawkes (Louis) has the roles in this new movie with Modern Family's Ty Burrell also on board. According to Deadline, Aniston is to play Mickey Dawson (not sure if that is a mistake or the female character has a man's name) and Quaid her corrupt real estate developing husband. Aniston's character is kidnapped and ransomed by ex-cons Ordell & Robbie but when her husband (Quaid) is actually pleased as he wants rid of her and refuses to pay the ransom, she teams with the kidnappers to take all of her husband's money. Burell plays Marshall Taylor, a married country club member who has the hots for Mickey. Dan Schechter (Supporting Characters) is writing and directing the film that is just going by the name Switch (possibly of Jennifer Aniston's own romantic comedy last year titled The Switch). Schechter was such a big fan of the novel that he wrote a spec script and pitched it without Leonards blessing, but in the end the author liked his take so much that he is on board to help produce the adaptation. The film will shoot in May.
