Jigsaw Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

Downs...

7. It's Tamer Than Previous Movies

Though there are some undeniably grisly sequences in Jigsaw, overall the focus has been pulled away from the comically over-the-top death scenes towards a more sparing, even tasteful sort of blood-letting, which may disappoint fans who've stuck with the series this long.

Aside from two or three grotesque moments, for the most part this feels like a tame attempt to broaden the franchise's appeal to those turned off by the "torture porn" label, but as a result it ends up feeling rather limp and ineffective.

It doesn't help that Jigsaw has the lowest body count of the series, which again will leave the gorehounds desperately craving more.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
