Jigsaw Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

5. It Totally Wastes The Spierig Brothers

Lionsgate

There was some cautious optimism about this movie when it was announced that The Spierig Brothers would be directing it, given their entertaining two prior films, Daybreakers and Predestination.

Though they do absolutely fine work, especially given the fairly tawdry directing standards of the franchise, their talents are nevertheless completely wasted in a movie this shoddily written.

While they don't embarrass themselves at all, it's a shame they took a detour from low-key genre fare into a straight-up payday like this, but hopefully their upcoming Helen Mirren-starring horror movie Winchester: The House That Ghosts Built might get them back on track.
