John Travolta: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. Adam Lawrence - Perfect (1985)

Basically an excuse to cash in on the sex appeal of both John Travolta and Jamie Lee Curtis, Perfect is sub-par on pretty much every level, asking nothing of Travolta except to strut about and get mouths drooling. Starring as reporter Adam Lawrence, who's sent out on assignment to write up a story on the American health club scene, Travolta encounters aerobics instructor Curtis bending and stretching on his first visit, and spends a good chunk of the film gawping at her during her workout sessions, trying to coerce her into an interview. The results are pretty laughable, and Travolta ended up being nominated for a Razzie Award for his performance. There's not much worth remembering about the movie, but one of Perfect's aerobics sequence was spoofed in the music video for Eric Prydz's dance hit Call On Me, where the sexual suggestiveness of James Bridges' film is ratcheted all the way up to soft porn. It probably makes for better viewing to be honest.
