John Travolta: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Charlie - Old Dogs (2009)

How and why did John Travolta end up here? A Disney comedy about two businessmen who are forced into caring for two young children? What made him choose this script? Nope, there's no redeeming value for Travolta here, with Old Dogs being about as dull as comedies can possible get. Cast opposite Robin Williams (another star guilty of churning out as much cinematic slop as he did gold), JT appears smug, irritating, and thoroughly unlikable throughout the entire production, with none of his charm anywhere to be seen. Old Dogs is the sort of film that's so short on comic invention and timing that you spend more time with your head planted in your hands than you do laughing. Someone gets hit in the crotch. A dog pees on a carpet. Someone falls into a pond. And those are the better parts. It's a comedy pitched at the lowest possible level, with Travolta's dismal performance dangling right down there with it.
