Johnny Depp: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Barnabas Collins - Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows

Easily the worst and most pointless collaboration between Depp and Burton, Dark Shadows is an adaptation of the classic 1970s TV soap, yet for a film about vampires, it's curiously de-toothed and sterile. This is the film that confirmed Depp and Burton's working relationship was as toxic as it once was prosperous; it allowed each to be lazy and try to coast off the other, yet when they both decided to phone their work in, the result was this sexless, dull, inept "comedy".

Depp again goes full Willy Wonka, indulging every ridiculous tic imaginable, and while his silly accent does sort of suit the tone they're shooting for, he's just not given anything of interest to do, short of a quick roll in the hay with the delectable Eva Green (easily the best thing about the film).
