Joker: Every Character Ranked Worst To Best
8. Arkham State Hospital Clerk
Brian Tyree Henry's casting is once again a case of an incredibly gifted actor being an exciting inclusion on the castlist and then doing largely nothing of note. He ranks slightly higher than the others in the same bracket, however, because his scene with Arthur is a little more entertaining.
He plays an administrative clerk working in Arkham Asylum, who tells Arthur why people end up locked up there (it's a low-key VERY important bit of information if you choose to interpret the film in a certain way I again won't spoil here). He's also pretty terrible at his job, because he retrieves the file Arthur asks for and while telling him he can't release it without the key paperwork, reveals the information Arthur is looking for and then allows him to run away with the file, despite being behind an attack-proof meshed window.
Henry's performance is good - and he seems to be the only person who actually treats Arthur as a normal human might - but again, he just hasn't got a great deal to do.
