1. Twist: The Movie
When I was thinking about, Well, if I wasnt going to do Avengers 2, what would I want to do? of course the first thing I thought of was turn-of-the-century female Batman, Joss Whedon told
BuzzFeed in 2015. He eventually picked up this idea and ran with it, resulting in the upcoming Dark Horse Comics series Twist. Twist has been described as a Victorian thriller about a meek chambermaid who is fed to a dark horror, which gifts her with knowledge, power, and rage. Its not out yet, but early hype around the project has been very positive. If it becomes a bestselling hit, surely Whedon will think about helming a movie adaptation. A movie based on Twist would certainly tick a lot of Whedons boxes. Theres a clear protagonist, and the period setting would give him something of a new world to explore. Also, as the creator and owner of the property, hed have less people to answer to than he did at Marvel Studios. As well as providing a more positive working experience for Whedon, a Twist movie with a solid script and the right actress in the lead role would surely be a massive hit. It sounds like a logical bet for his next movie, then, doesn't it?
