Theres always plenty of fan demand for Joss Whedon to return to his old projects. In particular, news stories crop up regularly about Firefly cast members telling excitable convention crowds that theyd like to return to their iconic roles from Whedons space opera saga. There was a time when this seemed plausible. When the Firefly movie Serenity came out in 2005, there was talk that it would be the first of a film trilogy. Yep, Universal Pictures were apparently interested - for a time - in bankrolling more movies for Whedon to write and direct within the Firefly universe. However, that came to nothing. Whedon worked consistently for 10 years after Serenity, and only really stopped for a decent length of time after Age Of Ultron. Theres an incredibly slim chance that hes considering mounting a campaign to bring back Serenity now that hes got the time, but its by far the least likely possibility on this list. The same goes for that Buffy movie fans have been waiting for. On top of the facts that Whedon has expressed a desire not to work with an ensemble cast on his next film and wants to create new worlds, theres also the fact that he doesnt need to revisit his former glories. He could work with any movie star he wanted right now, so why would he re-tread old ground?
