Jules Gill's 10 Greatest Films Of All Time

8. The Running Man

Jules Keanu The Matrix

So what happens when you mix Arnold Schwarzenegger, a dystopian future, the Smash TV video game, and a desperate fight for survival reminiscent of The Warriors? You get The Running Man, the quintessential so dumb it's brilliant action movie that ticks all the schlocky boxes imaginable.

For a start, it's filled with so many terribad one-liners that you'll be quoting them for days after, and this pun machine gun style of writing also infuses the main narrative of a man trying to win a murder reality TV show for the promise of freedom with relentless energy. The action scenes are laughable, but in the best way possible - with Arnie taking on murderous opera singers, explosive laden ice skaters, and of course the one and only Jesse "The Body" Ventura as Captain Freedom.

It's utter insanity from start to finish, and while it is by no means the perfect film, it's one that I can't help but enjoy each and every time I watch it.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
