In Real Life: Dilophosaurus is perhaps the most obscure animals of any of the Jurassic Park instalments. Fewer specimens of Dilophosaurus have been recovered than even Pachycephalosaurus. About ten feet from head to tail, the carnivorous Dilophosaurus likely weighed upward of 1,000 pounds. It earns its name from the dual crests upon the head that functioned in attraction of mates. In The Films: Due to the relative lack of academic and popular knowledge about Dilophosaurus, the franchise has taken a lot of creative license with the species. The expanding neck frill was an invention for Jurassic Park, and there is no evidence whatsoever that Dilophosaurus was venomous. As the ability to spit poison into the eyes and blind its prey is a super cool, however, there arent many fans to complain about any inaccuracies with the fossil record. MVP Moment: Dennis Nedry is already foolish as he stumbles out of his car alone in the middle of a hurricane, leaves the door open, falls down a hill, and loses his glasses on an island overrun with dinosaurs. He seals the deal when he proceeds to taunt a wild Dilophosaurus, and it's hard not to side with the dinosaurs when Nedry shuts himself in a car with one of them. Confirmed Kills: 1
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
