5. It’s A Dark Middle Chapter
Soon after signing on as director, J.A. Bayona spoke to Spanish news outlet EFE about Jurassic World 2. A fan site named JurassicWorld2movie.com translated the chat into English, unearthing some standard-issue dark sequel comparisons in the process.
"It is a second step in a trilogy, and the second step is always dark, as in The Empire Strikes Back or The Wrath Of Khan, which are the examples you always get", Bayona explained, hinting at a film even darker than the theme park bloodbath it's following.
"We are going to places where the saga has never been before, and at the same time we are paying tribute to the franchise," he continued, before stressing that he plans to "take it a step further."
Bayona also made sure to mention that this won't be a grim film devoid of humour: "Obviously when you have Chris Pratt it will also be very funny", he promised.
