Jurassic World 2 Trailer - 11 Big Things We Learned
7. Only Half Of The Movie Takes Place On The Island
For a lot of people, the initial reaction to the trailer was one of surprise - did the studio just give away the entire plot?
It's easy to see how someone might jump to that conclusion after finishing the trailer for the first time; there's the setup of the volcano, which you presume would be a late-game set-piece, but then the trailer spoils that anyway.
But all signs point to the volcano eruption being a mid-film (ish) event - possibly even the climax of the first act.
For starters, we're shown a shot of people on a boat, looking off into the distance at what can only be Isla Nublar, up in flames - so several human characters very clearly leave the island, dinosaurs in tow.
And then, there's a quick shot of Owen and Claire finding a T-Rex, which could be somewhere in the ship's cargo bay.
Bayona even confirmed that the trailer in no way spoils the whole movie. While speaking to Empire, the director stated that this footage had been carefully put together:
“It’s a very short section of the film. Where the movie is moving forward after the volcano is one of the main reasons why I wanted to be involved. The trailer is only hinting at a section of the film.”
He also added that the trailer doesn't contain a single shot from the second half of the movie. Those with spoiler-phobia can rest easy!
