9. Ellie Knew Maisie's Mother

One of the movie's most groan-worthy moments of hamfisted fan service involves Ellie revealing that she knew Maisie's mother Charlotte, that she was a visiting fellow at the university where Ellie was lecturing years prior.

More to the point, they became good friends, with Ellie assuring Maisie that her mother was a brilliant scientist light years ahead of everybody else around her.

While you can't quite call it a retcon, it is a lazy attempt to give the series' legacy characters a definitive link to one of Jurassic World's major characters, and it just comes off as so, so desperate and pandering. This is basically fan-fiction-worthy writing.
