Jurassic World: Dominion Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

2. The Awesome Animatronic Dinosaurs

In an era defined by digital filmmaking, the Jurassic World movies have prided themselves on supplementing their plentiful VFX dinosaurs with an impressive amount of actual dino animatronics, and Dominion at least continues that appealing trend.

Dominion features more animatronic dinosaurs than either of the previous Jurassic World movies, in fact, and it absolutely shows.

There's a tangible quality to these creations that CGI can't quite ever match, and so when we're seeing the cast interact with the practical dinosaurs in numerous scenes, it certainly adds a lot to the movie.

As disappointing as Dominion might be overall, there's no denying the technical craft on display where the animatronic puppetry is concerned, paying fitting homage to Steven Spielberg's more practically inclined original.
