Jurassic World: Dominion Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs

1. Michael Giacchino's Terrific Musical Score

Michael Giacchino returns to score his third successive Jurassic movie, and once again he's a major bright spot no matter how underwhelming the film itself might be.

While Giacchino is obviously standing on John Williams' shoulders here, what with much of the film's score recalling or accentuating Williams' iconic original themes and motifs, this is still a terrific score in its own right.

Giacchino tries his absolute damnedest to inject some honest-to-God feeling into the schlocky action and wonky sentimental drama, and while he can only do so much, it's fair to say that the movie would be lesser without his involvement.

The swelling orchestral arrangements feel consistent with the Jurassic Park soundscape we know while offering just enough variation to feel distinct in its own right.
